Our home:

Mendocino is a small artistic community with about a square mile of little tourist shops, art galleries, wine tasting world renowned restaurants and inns, coffee shops and spectacular ocean views along the rugged cliffs of the pacific. There is a beautiful big beach at the mouth of Big River with endless possibilities for recreation like surfing, kayaking, shell searching, fishing, and diving. We love to tide-pool, kayak or walk up the Big-river estuary, mountain bike and walk to the village from our house for a cup of coffee. Our house is a recently built, ranch-style home with a sunny open plan, designed and built by owners. The large kitchen features dual dishwasher, wolf range, breakfast bar. The dining room has a large 8-person table. The house has a comfortable "family room" loft with flat screen TV and DVD player,Roku Internet Tv system (no cable). The living room has a wood stove, piano and large picture windows looking into nice undeveloped lawn and forest. There is a large pantry, sky lights, finished concrete floors with radiant heat and carpeted bedrooms. One bedroom is upstairs with vaulted ceiling. Downstairs there is a master bedroom, two "kids" rooms, and a large office. DSL and Wifi available. We also have a kayak, canoe, bikes, hammock, and lots of children's movies and games.

Our neighborhood:

Mendocino is also known for the Mendocino Music Festival (an annual festival that happens for 2 weeks every July). There are many art classes and plays offered at the Mendocino Art Center and the College of the Redwoods 10 minutes to the North is the larger town of Fort Bragg with a history in logging and fishing. In recent years it has been developed into a tourist destination with fine restaurants, great shops, and the famous Skunk Train. Less than 1 hour's drive will bring you to hikes through some of the biggest old-growth Redwood groves in the world, and the famous wine tasting country of Mendocino County. Drive another hour or two and you are in the famous wine country of Sonoma and Napa counties. San Francisco is three hours drive to the South. Our house is in a very quiet neighborhood, down a private drive. We are surrounded by pines, fir trees, tan oaks, and wild rhododendrones (they bloom in the spring). We have chickens. Our neighbors have goats and a horse.
