Our home:

Cosy mountains cottage originally built in 1938 but totally refurbished in 2012 with everything is brand new! Situated on the edge of a bush gully, the outlook over the surrounding trees takes you a world away from the frantic pace of the 21st century, yet the international metropolis of Sydney is just over an hour's drive away. The cottage has two bedrooms on the top level and a double sofa bed (sleeping 6), with a separate studio on the ground level for a further 2-3 guests. The 65sq/m wrap-around deck provides views into the adjoining gully. The large windows fill the open spaced layout (kitchen/dining/loungeroom) with light and the open fire keeps the whole house warm, making a beautiful base from which to explore the World Heritage listed 'Blue Mountains'.

Our neighborhood:

The Blue Mountains is a magical place any time of the year. Glowing in autumn, cool in winter, colourful in spring and refreshing in summer. The Blue Mountains is densely populated by oil bearing Eucalyptus trees. The atmosphere is filled with finely dispersed droplets of oil, which, in combination with dust particles and water vapour, scatter short-wave length rays of light which are predominantly blue in colour. The Greater Blue Mountains was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2000 and was one of 15 World Heritage places included in the National Heritage List on 21 May 2007.

The M4 motorway connects Sydney with Blue Mountains which is just over 100km to the west. Katoomba is the hub of this unique holiday area which attracts geologists, botanists, astronomers, bird lovers and hikers. The amazing rock formations of the area have created canyons, cliffs, plateaus, streams and rivers which attract bushwalkers from across the globe. The trendy village of Leura is only a 2 minute drive away and boasts some of the areas best shops and restaurants.
