Our newly built and easy to maintain home in the Adelaide Hills frees us up for travel especially in the Australian winter months. With no grass to mow, no watering of plants (watering system if needed) and no animals to care for, general maintenance is easy. The garden with no lawns at all is primarily herbaceous although this is reduced by a graveled driveway and paths, a large patio area with barbecue as well as a play area for the grandchildren. Our house has an open plan living area with a gas log fire for the Hills winters. Three bedrooms provide sleeping accommodation for four and a well set-up office. Large sliding doors look out on to the patio, garden and feeding platforms for local birds from rosellas to galahs and cockatoos. These colourful Australian birds visit our garden daily.

How would you like to spend Christmas (and possibly New Year) in London? Seeing the lights in Piccadilly, joining the crowds in Oxford Street, watching fireworks exploder above the Eye as Big Ben counts down to 2015? We are spending Christmas in sunny Fremantle, and as a result our two cats will spend Christmas all alone. If you live within a 100-mile radius of Fremantle and would like to swap homes for some or all of the time between 7 December – 1st January, get in touch. We do have a place to stay in Freo but don’t want to over-impose on the rellies. Our home is a Victorian terrace over three storeys in buzzing Finsbury Park. The house has three spacious bedrooms, an open-plan kitchen-living room, two loos, shower, bath, and a small terrace by the kitchen leading down to a larger patio. If you are interested in swapping for some or all December, get in touch. Cat-loving – or at least, cat-tolerating – people only, please!
